for the evening’s gig in Oakland, there was a throng filling Broadway.
“What’s going on?” he asked. “They’re here to see you!”
Two days later, there was a national broadcast
of his performance at Los Angeles’ Palomar Theater thus creating the
erroneous impression that the Palomar, not
McFadden’s is where the Swing Era began.
